Why do I need accident insurance if I have health insurance?

Buddy is currently available in Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, and Tennessee, and is rolling out nationwide. Sign up below to be notified when we go live in your state.
In what states is Buddy licensed?
Buddy Technology, Inc. is currently licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC. Massachusetts and New York are coming soon.
How do I change or cancel my policy?
To request a change or cancellation, contact us. Soon you will be able to request a change or cancel your policy using BuddyBot.

Does Buddy's accident policy have a deductible?
No! Our accident policy has first dollar benefits, which means that you don't have a deductible you are required to meet before your claim is paid.
Am I only covered in the state where I reside and purchase my policy?
No! With Buddy, you’ll be covered no matter where you go. While you must purchase coverage in that state where you reside, you can rest assured knowing you’ll be protected whether you're running the trails in your own backyard, or heading out of the country for the adventure of a lifetime.

Is Buddy an alternative to health insurance?
No, Buddy is not a health insurance provider and is not recommended as an alternative to health insurance.
How soon before I need coverage do I need to sign up?
Buddy offers the ONLY same-day accident insurance policy. If you purchase a policy for today, your coverage begins as soon as payment is processed. Get covered in 90 seconds or less.
How do I extend or make changes to my policy?
Please call us at 833.462.8339 to make any changes to your policy.
I'm visiting from outside the US. Can I purchase a policy while I'm here?
Currently, we can only offer our accident insurance to US residents.
Can I buy coverage after I have an accident?
Sure, but only accidents that occur during the policy will be covered. If you purchase a policy after you have an accident, we will not be able to pay any benefits for that accident.
How do I file a claim?
How long does it take for a claim to be paid?
Claims will be paid as soon as they are approved, usually within 3-7 business days.
Who do I contact if I have an issue with a claim I am trying to file, or have previously filed?
