Buddy Wins People's Choice Award at Plug and Play's Summer Summit

Buddy, the on-demand accident insurance startup from Richmond, VA, won the People’s Choice Award today at the Plug and Play Summer Summit.

Plug and Play is a global innovation platform based in Sunnyvale, CA that runs a series of industry-specific accelerators, a fund, and events. Notable Plug and Play alumni include Dropbox, Lending Club, and PayPal.

The People’s Choice Award is selected by members of the Summer Summit audience, which is made up of Plug and Play’s corporate partners, investors, and fellow startups. Over 50 insurance companies, including Markel and Allianz, make up the roster of Insurtech partners responsible for voting.

Buddy’s on-demand accident insurance provides customers with cash benefits up to $50,000 in the event of an injury, and the product has now been approved in seven states, including a recent addition of North Carolina.
